homework 1

Like a very famous writer Mikhail Bakhtin said, "Without the word, there is now world". From what he says, one could know that words are very important for people, words actually are changing people's perceive for the world.

Nobody knows what is right and what is wrong in this world at first. It’s hard to give a standard action law for that. More deeply, people cannot define what reality is, since sometimes there are always a lot of ways to solve a same problem, there is no right and wrong answer. However, with words, people can know what is wrong and what is wrong. People do not know they are changing by words every day, but actually they are. Almost all the people in the world watch TV; read news from the internet; or even read newspaper every day. These things are changing people’s perceive for the world every day in a very silent way to let people know what is wrong and what is right in this big world.

Language could make people to a positive side, and it can also make people to a negative side. A good example could like to be the propaganda that Adolf Hitler made in German before and during the World War II, it totally made people in a negative side. Form this we could see that language is a double – edged sword, changing our daily life all the time.
